Today, Governor Pete Ricketts announced the appointment of Ryan C. Carson to the District Court of the Ninth Judicial District.
Carson joined Jacobsen, Orr, Lindstrom & Holbrook, P.C., L.L.O. in October 2015, and became a shareholder in January 2018. Carson has handled cases in a variety of practice areas, including employment, insurance defense, commercial, corporate, and others. Carson also serves as outside general counsel to a variety of companies in Nebraska and surrounding states.
Before his time with the Jacobsen Orr law firm, Carson was a Partner at Taylor Anderson, L.L.P. in Colorado, where he litigated hundreds of cases throughout the United States, including Nebraska. He also previously served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Bobby R. Baldock with the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Carson will be the third attorney from the Jacobsen Orr Firm to be appointed to a local District Court judgeship. Carson will be filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William T. Wright, formerly a shareholder of the firm. Also, Judge Terri S. Harder was a shareholder of the firm before being appointed to the District Court of the Tenth Judicial District in 1999, primarily located in Kearney County.
Dan Lindstrom, managing shareholder of Jacobsen Orr, commented that “Ryan has proven himself to be a great asset to the Firm and to our community.” He further added “He will be greatly missed at Jacobsen Orr, but we all wish him the best in the next step in his career.”
