ATTORNEYS
We accept applications for attorney positions on a rolling basis, regardless of whether you are a law student, recent graduate, or an experienced lawyer. We pride ourselves on fostering an environment with balance between work, life, and involvement in the communities we call home.
Associate attorneys have a supervising partner assigned to mentor and assist them in growing their own practice and developing their skills as an attorney. Even so, we regularly collaborate and work as a team, so there are ample opportunities to learn more about various practice areas, how to manage cases, and how to grow as an attorney.
Experienced attorneys are offered opportunities to broaden or grow their practice areas, build their client base, and work in a collaborative atmosphere. We recognize that excellent client service, challenging work, and personal satisfaction are all important.
LAW CLERKS
Jacobsen Orr’s law clerks are an integral component of our recruiting process. We hire rising 2L and 3L law students to assist attorneys on their cases. Our law clerks have the opportunity to attend court proceedings, client meetings, mediations, depositions, and conduct legal research. Senior-certified law students may also be offered chances to appear in court. Law clerks are given many opportunities to grow their knowledge and explore their interests in various areas of the law, all while earning a competitive wage. We encourage our law clerks to seek out projects from attorneys who practice in areas they want to explore. We have an open-door policy and socialize at events throughout the summer, so our law clerks get to know what it is like to practice at our firm. Finally, we provide formal and informal feedback throughout the summer to help our law clerks continue to grow as professionals.
PARALEGALS
As a litigation-based firm, paralegals are essential in maintaining an active and healthy caseload. From the beginning of a case, our paralegals work closely with attorneys to manage cases and deadlines necessary to bring a case to trial. Paralegals are responsible for investigating facts and assisting attorneys in developing legal arguments. Paralegals may also draft motions, subpoenas, and discovery requests. Much like any other professional in our firm, paralegals are exposed to a wide array of matters, from personal injury and criminal, to divorce and business litigation. Paralegal applicants should have a willingness to learn with each new case and possess excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
